What we do
BESTWA operates three feeding stations which provide nutritious meals to over 900 children per day.
As part of The BESTWA Feeding Program, we provide elementary education through our Feeding Program Education Project. 400 of our children are currently waiting for funding so they can start school.
Over a decade after the end of the civil war we still see undernourished, malnourished and starving children roaming the streets.
Many starving children are exploited as petty traders, laborers and sex slaves.
The BESTWA Feeding Program stops the cycle of exploitation by meeting the basic need for food.
When we feed one child the rest of their family benefits as well because their food doesn't have to be divided between as many people.
In May 2014 we opened a feeding site for 300 children in the worst slum in Buchanan. This brought our total to three feeding sites and over 900 children we feed each day. We also provide support to an orphanage and an old folks home in Buchanan.
